Architectural Advanced Studio - Light & Form
This advanced studio is a one of two final studios taken by Seniors at SUNY Delhi. Over the semester students are encouraged to develop their own unique ideas surrounding occupation, program, context and natural lighting. During the semester we go on several field trips to spaces in and around Delhi to give them an opportunity to learn from real world precedents. The program for the final project relies on the student manipulating the requirements to fit their own interests studio requirements.
PRECEDENT STUDIES
Each semester we ask students to investigate a precedent that uses light in unique and powerful ways. Each student then develops a series of boards and models to focus the qualities of the building that they find most interesting. Through this catalogue the class has a strong foundation of lighting means and methods.
SPACE FOR AN ARTIST
This program asked students to use one artist from either Storm King Sculpture Park or Dia Beacon as a point of origin into a small residence, gallery and workshop in the town of Delhi. Over the last several weeks of the semester students developed clear diagrams, plans, sections ,elevations, models, and perspectives.
