Library Skins
Critic: Laura Briggs
& Warren Schwartz
Year: 2012 - 2013
Duration: 6 weeks

"It is my opinion that everything must be based on a simple idea. And it is my opinion that this idea, once we have finally discovered it, will be so compelling, so beautiful, that we will say to one another, yes, how could it have been any different."

-John Archibald Wheeler

Skin and form was an approach to the library that attempted to sheath a larger body of disparate spaces.  This conglomeration of parts, like the citizens of Baton Rogue, allows the building to explore the possibilities of it being both inclusive and exclusive.  It was an attempt to let the building become more than a library, but instead house a variety programs that could break the bounds of a traditional library and become a culture hub for information of all kinds.
